Recycle Your Fashions — Consignment Shops

Everyone has clothes in their closet that they do not wear anymore. Did you realize that you can actually make money from what you plan to throw out? You may not want to take the time and effort to sell your good quality clothing yourself, but you do not want to just throw them out or give them away either. What options are available to you? You could list them on an auction site such as Ebay or you could let someone else do all the work and take them to a consignment shop. Consignment shops are stores that accept gently used items that are still in good condition and resell them. You and the store both make money off the sell of your items. If this is the way you want to go, there are a few things you need to do to make the most from your discarded items. First, you will need to gather up the items you wish to part with. Separate them by season, style, and condition. You will only want to sell items that are stain-free and in good repair. Go through your phone book or do an online search for all of the stores in your area that are listed as consignment or secondhand clothing. It is a good idea to visit the shops you are considering consigning your clothing to. Notice how the store is arranged and the prices. Of course you want to make some money from your items, but if the store seems to have inflated prices you may end up not selling your items due to this. Now that you have narrowed down your choices a little, you may wish to call the stores and find out what types of clothing they accept. Do they only accept seasonal items, professional, designer, casual, etc.? With all of your information that you have gathered so far, make a list of the shops that might be interested in your items and that you would like to consign your items in and make appointments to bring your items in for their consideration.
